italia for now

i have so much good news to share. but the pictures are on steps cam! so until i can post those, i will wait to share my exciting news...for now, i will say that i am terribly homesick for italy.
the coliseum: night or day, it is magical.

ahhh i can just smell these roasted chesnuts, and the sounds of people sitting and talking on the spanish steps that rest just beyond this old man and his chestnut cart.

this picture was taken for my one and only cousin stef, who i dearly miss when i'm halfway across the world...



for those of you who have, at some time in your life, depended on buses as your main transportation, you can appreciate this picture. while i admit that it was annoying to have to run to catch buses, only to be crammed up next to stinky pete, and then realize you are on the wrong bus, with no air conditioning in the 100 degree heat...there is just no better feeling than sitting down and looking out the window, watching the bustling street life of people and cars and bicycles race around, while postal service is vibrating through your ears, and time just seems to slow.


i mostly wanted to capture the graffiti on the wall behind me, but photographers are just hard to work with. as usual, we are all waiting to catch our train, in Castellemare di Stabia. ooh just the name brings back memories. sights and sounds and feelings that make me ache for italia.
